How to record MSN Live Messenger chat conversation and history? If you have access to your boyfriend or girlfriend’s msn account, you can enable the ‘Message History’ feature where it automatically keep a history or log of all chat conversation. Here is a simple tutorial on how to enable this feature:

Step 1 – Click on the show menu button
Step 2 – Select ‘Tools’
Step 3 – Select ‘Options…’

Step 4 – Select The ‘Messages’ tab from the Options window
Step 5 – Under ‘Message History’, check the box for ‘Automatically keep a history of my conversation’
Step 6 – Apply settings.

The log file will most probably be in the following folder. Do note that the ‘YOUR-COMPUTER-NAME’ and ‘YOUR-MSN-NICK-NAME’ are both unique to your computer and MSN ID.

All logged chat conversation in msn are viewable by anyone with access to the computer, it is not encrypted. The file is formatted in XML format, which can be viewed in any browser. It records the date, time, message, to and from ID as shown in the screen shot below.
