Bit.ly (68.6% market share) and Tinyurl.com (11.8% market share) are two of the biggest URL shortner in the market, the new kid on the block is Google URL Shortener at goo.gl, it is a free service that takes long URLs and compress them into fewer characters to make a link that is easier to share, tweet, or email to friends, most important of all, easy to remember.
The only drawback is availability, at the time of writing, Google URL Shortener is only available for Google products and not for broader consumer use.
goo.gl lite (Firefox 3) is a simple extension for those who want to use goo.gl, Google’s URL shortener, without installing their 2MB toolbar. Clicking the Goo.gl button will generate a goo.gl URL and copy it to your clipboard
